Caution: Using the Following Back Pain Exercise Videos Will Help You Get Back to the Life You Deserve!
You may not realize it, but implementing the information from the back pain exercise videos below may be one of the most powerful things you can do to eliminate your back pain! But don’t take my word for it. Let’s look at what the research says. A recent study published in the journal, Spine, analyzed the role of physical exercise and inactivity on the long-term outcome after outpatient low back rehabilitation. In short, out of 100 patients that did not perform a regular core stability program after their first bout of back pain, 100% of them had persistent and recurring episodes of back pain over the following two years.
On the other hand, only 9% of those that did perform regular maintenance exercises for their back had a recurring episode of lower back pain. In other words, those that continued to focus on the “cause” of their problem had an incredible success rate in preventing future bouts of back pain vs. those that just treated the original pain but did not participate in a follow-up exercise program.
Powerful and Proven Back Pain Exercise Videos
Convinced? I hope so, because the information you’ll get from these back pain exercise videos is powerful…and it works! Lumbar stabilization exercises are a vital part in treating lower back pain because they directly increase the strength of the muscles that stabilize your spine. Before we watch the video clips below, let’s discuss some of the keys components for your lumbar stabilization exercises.
Maintain Your Neutral Spine – If you aren’t sure what your neutral spine is, this is something you must learn before watching the back pain exercise videos below.
If you need to brush up on finding and maintaining your neutral spine, watch the video at www.TheBackUniversity.com to learn this skill. You have to ensure you maintain your neutral spine during every repetition.
Perform Perfect Repetitions – Since you are trying to teach your body a new habit, make sure you perform each movement correctly. Remember, practice doesn’t make perfect…perfect practice makes perfect. I would rather you do 5 repetitions correctly than 25 repetitions and the last 20 are done improperly.
Sets and Repetitions – The muscles you are training in these exercises are endurance muscles. That means you have to condition them to work for long periods throughout the day. For that reason, I often like to have my patients do sets of a minute.
But chances are you will not be able to start there and maintain proper form. Consequently, I usually have people start with 1 set of 8-10 reps. Then, work to doing 2 sets of 10 reps, then 2 sets of 15 reps. After you’ve hit 2 sets of 15, try to progress to one set of a minute. The one exception to this is the Isometric Abdominal Contraction exercise, which will be done for 1 set of 50 repetitions.
Exercise on a Firm Surface – I recommend doing these exercises on a firm surface, such as a carpeted floor. Most beds are too soft and do not allow you to get a true feel for if you are keeping your neutral spine or not. When you do these exercises on a firm surface, you have a better feel for what position your back is in. Now that we’ve covered some of the keys to remember as you perform your lumbar stabilization exercise program, watch the video clips below to get started!
